Bariatric Surgery
Patients are assessed within a structured multidisciplinary bariatric pathway led by Scott McCain, Consultant Bariatric Surgeon.
The pathway begins with an initial surgical consultation, followed by comprehensive dietetic and psychological assessment to ensure patients are appropriately prepared for surgery and long-term lifestyle change. Ongoing input from specialist dietitians and psychologists is provided throughout the pre- and post-operative period.
Eligible patients may be offered robotic-assisted sleeve gastrectomy or robotic-assisted gastric bypass, with procedure choice individualised based on clinical need and patient factors. Robotic-assisted surgery provides enhanced precision, improved visualisation, and may support reduced blood loss, lower complication rates, and faster recovery compared to conventional laparoscopic techniques.
Post-operatively, patients are enrolled in a structured follow-up programme, including regular surgical review, nutritional monitoring, and continued multidisciplinary support to optimise outcomes and support sustained weight loss.
